ICASA wishes to advise stakeholders of the truncated timetable and roadmap for the expedited licensing of the International Mobile Telecommunications (“IMT”) spectrum, also known as high-demand spectrum, and the Wireless Open Access Network (“WOAN”) published today and is further consulting stakeholders on key aspects pertaining to this expedited licensing process. The tariff analysis report issued by ICASA assists consumers to make informed choice in the consumption of communication services

ICASA has unfortunately not yet been able to reach an out of court settlement with the litigants in the High Court matter, in terms of which its decisions to invite applications for high-demand spectrum licences and for a licence to operate a Wireless Open Access Network (WOAN) are challenged.

ICASA will hold public hearings from 7 to 9 September 2021 in respect of the Draft National Radio Frequency Plan (NRFP) 2021 as published on 9 July 2021

ICASA has resolved to grant licensees three months grace period to wind down operations in respect of the use of the assigned temporary radio frequency spectrum and to return it to the Authority by no later than 30 November 2021

ICASA is currently conducting virtual public hearings in respect of the Draft Equipment Authorisation Regulations published in March 2021. The public hearings started today (25 August 2021) and will continue on 26 and 27 August 2021 from 09h00 to 17h00.
