ICASA has extended the submission deadline for pre-registrations in respect of applications for community television broadcasting service and related radio frequency spectrum licences on Digital Terrestrial Television Multiplex 1 frequencies from 12 January 2023 to 30 January 2023.

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa wishes to inform its stakeholders and members of the public that all ICASA offices will be partially closed during the festive period from 16 December 2022 to 2 January 2023.

ICASA has published Draft Radio Frequency Spectrum Assignment Plans (RFSAPs) for Specific Radiocommunications Systems for public consultation.

ICASA will host the South African Fifth Generation Mobile Technology (5G) Forum Meeting on 16 and 17 November 2022, from 11:30 a.m. to 17:00 p.m. at the Premier Hotel Midrand in Gauteng. The theme of this meeting is “Early Phases of 5G Deployment: Experiences and Beyond”.

On October 21, 2022, the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa approved a series of applications by Dark Fibre Africa to transfer the ownership and control of their I-ECS and I-ECNS licences. The effective date for the transfer of the licences is 01 December 2022.

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa will be hosting a series of provincial workshops between 7 and 17 November 2022 to explain the licensing process for community television broadcasting service and related radio frequency spectrum licences on Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) Multiplex 1 (MUX 1) frequencies.
