ICASA has announced Kwese Free TV as a successful applicant to provide free-to-air television services in South Africa, and to promote consumer choice and competition in the television broadcasting sector.

ICASA is noting with concern that the listing of the Multichoice Group seems to be going ahead when there is a complaint against it.

As part of ICASA’s initiative to engage with communities, the Authority will be visiting communities of the North West Province for public education and awareness campaigns. These campaigns present an opportunity for the community members to interact with ICASA and learn about their consumer rights; as well as how to use the services that ICASA can offer such as licensing and consumer protection.

In preparation for the sixth democratic Provincial and National Elections, ICASA is gearing itself up to ensure that there is fair and equitable treatment of all contesting political parties, by broadcasting service licensees during the upcoming 2019 National Elections.
