ICASA has completed a review of the ICT COVID-19 National Disaster Regulations following written submissions in respect of the draft regulations published on 21 April 2021.

The Authority hereby wishes to inform all interested stakeholders that the Head Office in Centurion is temporarily closed due to a reported positive COVID-19 case.

ICASA is seeking written submissions from interested stakeholders in respect of the review of the Information and Communications Technology ICT COVID-19 National Disaster Regulations, as amended

ICASA will be re-opening applications for Class Community Sound Broadcasting Services and related Radio Frequency Spectrum Licences for purposes of providing community sound broadcasting services, following failure to qualify by applicants in the previous process. The new invitation will be announced later in the year.

The Council of ICASA has resolved to review the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) COVID-19 National Disaster Regulations (The Regulations) and extend the temporary radio frequency spectrum assignments issued to licensees for another two months (from 1 April 2021 to 31 May 2021).

ICASA hereby welcomes the ruling by the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) against Telkom on a matter relating to the leasing of facilities between licensed operators.
