ICASA WITHDRAWS NOTICES ON OTT SERVICES AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS AFFORDABILITY INQUIRIES

Pretoria- The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa wishes to advise stakeholders that it is withdrawing the notices concerning the Telecommunications Affordability Inquiry and the Inquiry into the Impact of Over-the-Top (OTT) Services, published in Government Gazette Nos 4130 and 4129 respectively.

The withdrawal of the notices will allow ICASA to address administrative and procedural matters for better regulatory alignment.

ICASA is withdrawing the Telecommunications Affordability Inquiry Notice in order for it to be republished, together with the draft questionnaire, for public comment.

Similarly, the Authority will at a later date republish the OTT Service Notice that will provide greater context and clearer guidance for public participation.

Stakeholders who have already submitted comments to the Telecommunications Affordability Inquiry and OTT Market Inquiry will have an opportunity to resubmit or further substantiate their comments when the new notices are republished.

ICASA will also communicate the publication of the new notices through its usual communication channels to ensure that stakeholders are afforded a full and proper opportunity to participate in the respective Inquiries.

ICASA apologises for any inconvenience caused by the withdrawal of the Notices.
