ICASA hosts the South African 5G Forum Meeting

PRETORIA - The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) invites all stakeholders, members of the public, and representatives of the media to participate in the upcoming 2023 annual South African 5G Forum Meeting (“the 5G Forum Meeting”).

This meeting takes place from 11 to 12 October 2023, both in-person at the Hotel Sky, Sandton, and virtually (see link below).

The theme of this year’s 5G Forum conference event is “From Theory to Practice”.

Key themes for the conference include the following:

  • The Impact of 5G on the Digital Economy;
  • 5G Rollout - Progress, Deployment and Challenges;
  • Best Practice in Spectrum Licensing for 5G and Emerging Technologies – Regulatory and Economic perspective

The South African 5G Forum is established as an advisory body, comprised of stakeholders in the ICT Sector to undertake research and render advice to ICASA on 5G and beyond, taking into account the integral role that these technologies play in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and the positive socio-economic impact that they stand to facilitate.

Attendees will be able to participate and engage in interactive panel sessions, one-on-one, and networking sessions.

ICASA hosted the inaugural 5G Forum Meeting in 2017, with the intention of intensifying collaborative arrangements with the government, institutions of higher learning, research institutions, experts, industry players, as well as any other stakeholders with an interest in the uptake of 5G / IMT2020 and future technological innovations.
