Notice to Stakeholders to Comment on Draft Domestic Violence Tariff Regulations

The Domestic Violence Amendment Act, 2021 (“the Amendment Act”), was signed into law by the President on 25 January 2022. Preparations are being made to ensure that the necessary mechanisms are in place before the Amendment Act is put into operation.

TARIFF OF COMPENSATION IN TERMS OF SECTION 5B(9) OF THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACT, 1988 (ACT NO. 116 OF 1998) PAYABLE TO ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS SERVICE PROVIDERS

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (“the Authority”), hereby encourages all electronic communications service providers to make written comments on the Draft tariff of compensation payable to electronic communications service providers proposed by the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, under section 5B(9) of the Domestic Violence Act, 1998 (Act No. 116 of 1998).

Written comments on the Draft tariff of compensation payable to electronic communications service providers can be submitted by not later than 16h00 on Friday, 8 July 2022, marked for the attention of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Willington Ngwepe, ICASA, and must be submitted by email to domesticviolencetariffs@icasa.org.za

A copy of the Draft tariff of compensation payable to electronic communications service providers is attached herewith and marked Annexure A.

DRAFT REGULATIONS AND FORMS UNDER THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACT

The Authority also encourages all interested stakeholders to submit written comments on the Draft Regulations and Forms, issued by the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, as contemplated in section 19 of the Domestic Violence Act, 1998.

Written comments on the Draft Regulations and Forms must be submitted not later than Friday, 8 July 2022, marked for the attention of Mr M Mokulubete, and –
