Pretoria – The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa will hold public hearings in respect of the Draft International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) Roadmap published on 09 November 2018 for public comments.

ICASA has since received 20 written submissions in respect of this process and will hold public hearings from 31 January 2019 to 01 February 2019 at ICASA Head Office located at 350 Witch-Hazel Avenue, Eco-Point Office Park, Centurion.

The published roadmap identifies the bands for IMT deployment and also identifies the migration of a number of current licensees out of (or within) bands identified for IMT services. “For bands where costs and benefits of the migration were not straightforward, ICASA has conducted feasibility studies to determine the appropriateness of migration,” says ICASA Councillor Peter Zimri.
