ICASA to Host a Virtual Workshop to Assist Stakeholders with Applications for Community Television and Radio Frequency Spectrum Licences

PRETORIA - The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) will host a virtual workshop on 29 June 2026 to assist stakeholders with the application process for the Invitation to Pre-Register (ITP-R) for Community Television Broadcasting Service (CTBS) and Radio Frequency Spectrum (RFS) licences. The ITP-R was published on 8 January 2026 in Government Gazette No. 53934.

On 25 March 2026, ICASA hosted a virtual workshop, which was followed by a series of provincial outreach workshops between 12 and 28 May 2026. However, due to adverse weather conditions in the Western Cape province, the workshop that was scheduled to take place on 12 May 2026 in Plettenberg Bay was cancelled.

Subsequently, ICASA resolved to host a final virtual workshop to accommodate and help prospective applicants of the Plettenberg Bay area and all other prospective applicants better understand the requirements of the application process. The workshop will provide guidance on the legislative and regulatory framework governing CTBS and RFS licences, as well as practical steps to ensure that applications comply with the requirements outlined in the ITP-R.

All prospective applicants and interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend the workshop to gain clarity and practical insight into the application process.

ICASA further notifies the public that the closing date for submission of pre-registration notices has been extended to 16h00 PM, South African time (GMT +2), on 15 July 2026.

Members of the media, stakeholders and the public are invited to attend the workshop as follows:
